LatinXTech is a student-founded non-profit dedicated to empowering underrepresented youth through technology education that sparks a passion for STEM.

 

Our goal is to provide strong foundations and continued support to push children to pursue higher education and careers in the STEM fields.

Whitney high school

Cerritos, California

Congratulations to Whitney High School for completing a series of FIVE workshops at Gonsalves Elementary School, and FOUR at Kennedy! Whitney worked to teach students the fundamentals of block coding through Scratch.

In the first lesson they went over coordinate planes and how to move a sprite using block code. During the second workshop they covered the basics of graphics; learning how to use sprite costumes, backgrounds, speech blocks, and animation. In the third workshop they learned about action-reaction coding using broadcast buttons. During their fourth lesson, they covered advanced input responses using if-else blocks, checkers, adjusters, and question blocks. In their final workshop, they mastered position-relative movement and boolean logic.
